Legal & Regulatory Environment

There are no laws or policies requiring PPA disclosure. In accordance with the 1992 Constitution, Parliamentary approval is however required  to validate any state activity concerning international business including guarantees or loans. The Right to Information Act also provides for citizens to request information from state agencies related to their duties.

In 2022, Ghana’s utility regulator launched a public register of power purchase agreements (PPAs) to share information on all 14 of the country’s active electricity contracts covering both renewable and non-renewable power projects.
